Support Work

Everyday support, on your terms

Help with the ordinary things that make an ordinary life possible: getting ready in the morning, getting out the door, keeping the house running, and building the skills to do more of it yourself.

Support that fits your life, not a roster

Good support work is not complicated, but it is personal. It depends on someone turning up when they said they would, knowing how you like things done, and knowing when to step back.

We match support workers to people rather than filling shifts. That means asking about the practical things: whether you want someone chatty or quiet, whether you need a driver, whether gender matters to you, what languages are spoken at home. Then we keep that team consistent so you are not re-explaining yourself every fortnight.

If a worker is not the right fit, tell us. Changing them is a normal request, not a complaint, and it will not affect anything else in your supports.

Every worker, every time

NDIS Worker Screening Check, NDIS Worker Orientation Module, current first aid and CPR, and an induction into your specific supports before their first shift.

What we do not provide

My Aid is not registered for High Intensity Daily Personal Activities. That means we cannot provide supports such as enteral or PEG feeding, complex bowel care, tracheostomy or ventilation support, urinary catheter management, subcutaneous injections or complex wound management. We also do not provide nursing or plan management. If you need any of these, tell us anyway. We will help you find a provider who is registered for them.

Questions

Support work, answered

Yes. We will propose a match based on what you have told us, and you meet them before anything is locked in. If it is not right, we try again. You are not obliged to accept a worker you are not comfortable with, and you never have to explain why.

Where personal support is provided to someone living alone by a single worker, there are specific safeguards we are required to put in place: a risk assessment done with you, a written service agreement, someone other than your worker checking in on how things are going, and in-person supervision of the worker. We will walk you through all of it, and you get a copy of everything.

Life happens, and we would rather you told us late than not at all. Your service agreement sets out the cancellation terms in plain English before you sign, and we will talk you through what they mean in practice rather than leaving you to find out later.
